Pupil Deprivation Grant (PDG)
How do we use the PDG?
Our school is committed to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed and reach their full potential, regardless of background or circumstance. The Pupil Deprivation Grant is used carefully and thoughtfully to support pupils who may face barriers to learning, helping to promote equity and inclusion across the school.
We utilise this funding in a range of ways to strengthen our universal provision and enhance the quality of teaching and learning for all pupils. This includes allocating additional teaching assistant time to provide targeted support within the classroom, enabling children to access learning more effectively and build confidence and independence.
Our PDG allocation for the 2025/26 financial year was £56,350.
The grant is also used to support small group work, intervention programmes and the development of key skills such as literacy and numeracy. In addition, we may provide resources, pastoral support and enrichment opportunities to ensure all pupils can fully participate in school life.
By using the Pupil Deprivation Grant in this way, we aim to remove barriers, raise standards and ensure that every child is supported to achieve their best in a caring and inclusive environment.
How the Grant is Monitored
The use of the Pupil Deprivation Grant is carefully monitored to ensure it has a positive impact on pupils’ progress, wellbeing and overall school experience. We track how the funding is allocated and evaluate the effectiveness of the support provided. Pupil progress is regularly assessed through ongoing teacher assessments, data analysis and discussions about individual learners. This helps us to identify what is working well and where further support may be needed.
Interventions and strategies are reviewed and adapted accordingly to ensure the best outcomes for pupils. Teaching staff, support staff and leadership teams work closely together to monitor the impact of additional support, such as teaching assistant time and targeted interventions. The governing body also plays an important role in overseeing how the funding is used and ensuring it is spent appropriately and effectively.
Through this robust monitoring process, we ensure that the Pupil Deprivation Grant continues to make a meaningful difference, helping to remove barriers and support every child to achieve their full potential.
